Local Store Managers Go "Over the Edge" for Special Olympics Virginia

Safeway is a leading employer of people with disabilities in the US and Canada and has donated more than $9.3M to Special Olympics programs in North America since 2008. And May 3, five Safeway Store Managers from the Virginia market will take their support to new heights by participating in Over the Edge, a rappelling event for the most fearless Special Olympics fans!

Five very brave store managers will be chosen based on the top five stores that raise the most funds in Safeway’s month-long People with Disabilities campaign that will take place from March 29 through April 30. This means that Safeway store employees will ask shoppers to donate at check-out to support people with disabilities and will give a portion of the proceeds to Special Olympics.

According to Greg Ten Eyck, Safeway’s Eastern Division Director of Public Affairs and Government Relations, “This is a great way for our associates to showcase Safeway’s commitment to diversity and their own bravery to overcome challenges in support of a great cause.”

Members of the media and the general public can also sign up to Go Over the Edge. Visit overtheedgeva.com for more information and be sure to use the promo code OTENOVA13 while registering to waive the $50 registration fee.

And don’t forget to donate to Special Olympics the next time you’re in the check-out line at a Safeway location near you!
