This Summer will be EPIC
Since 1968, Special Olympics has been changing attitudes about people with intellectual disabilities. Since 1968, Special Olympics has been changing the world.
So it’s only fitting that this summer we’re celebrating 50 YEARS of creating more inclusive communities with a Summer Games celebration that will be one for the record books!
- More than 1500 athletes will go for gold in bocce, swimming, softball, track & field, bowling and tennis, June 8-9, with the help of thousands of volunteers. Interesting in joining us a cheering fan? Stay tuned for more details on our Volunteer to Cheer program.
- Our Opening Ceremony, June 8 at the University of Richmond, is not to be missed. We’ll light the Olympic Cauldron, sing happy birthday with thousands of fans, showcase some of Richmond’s top talent and welcome our Law Enforcement Torch Run officers home from their 1900+ mile journey across the Commonwealth. More details coming soon.
- And, despite the heat, we planning a cold front with our first-ever SOLAR PLUNGE. Cool down after a hot day (and we promise it will be hot on many levels!) in our above-ground pool outside of the Robins Center at the University of Richmond. Raise $100 – all to benefit more than 21,000 athletes across Virginia – and you can join the coolest event in June; raise more and there are some additional cool incentives headed your way. Sign up today.
Let’s get together. We can’t wait to celebrate 50 incredible, inspiring years with you.
