In my job at Special Olympics Virginia, I feel like the biggest lesson I’ve learned is how to be fearless. On Thursday; September 1st, I arrived at the will call booth with my father. Not long afterwards, we met up with Katie Botha, Special Olympics Virginia’s VP of Development and Communications. Global Messenger Megan Shepard met us inside the Richmond Diamond stadium with her mentor and mother Isabelle Shepard. We were there to accept a check from Blossman Gas to Special Olympics Virginia for $1000!!!! We were called onto the field with Bill Chaffin of Blossman Gas before the Flying Squirrel’s game began. Katie, Megan, and I stood with Bill and Nutzy, the team mascot. We posed for a picture holding the big check. To me this was pretty amazing because we were in front of A LOT of people.
