For Dylan Jacquez, golf has become more than just a new sport—it’s a peaceful space where he can focus, relax, and feel truly at ease. This year, he’ll take on his first golf tournament at the 2024 Fall Championships, guided by his biggest supporters, his parents and coaches, Julie and Richard. While both have experience coaching with Special Olympics Virginia, this is their first time coaching golf, making this event a special milestone for their family.
Dylan, a Special Olympics Virginia athlete from Area 11, is no stranger to sports. Known for his contagious energy, he’s spent years competing in soccer, basketball, and track and field. Despite a rare genetic condition called inverted duplication of chromosome 8, Dylan embraces each day to the fullest, making every day the best ever and letting nothing hold him back.
I love Special Olympics because I get to travel, get out of my house, and be with my friends.
For him, the Fall Championships are not just about competing—it's about joy, connection, and discovering how far he can go, both on the golf course and in life.
