Hi everyone! We are in the middle of a very hot summer, I bet many of you are trying to stay inside where it’s cooler. That is a good idea on really warm days, but there are a lot of fun things you can do to keep cool and stay in shape. Some of these you can do at home, and some you need to travel for. Here are my top three favorites:
Beach Workout
If you get the chance to head to the shore or to any other beach, there is no better place to exercise. And the best part? You can dive in the ocean or lake to cool off. A while back, my friends and I made a video of our beach workout. You can check it out at this link. Activities like running in place (which is more challenging on sand), jumping jacks, sit-ups, and even push-ups (remember to place a towel where your face goes) are all more difficult and better for results on the sand.
Exercise at the Pool
The neighborhood pool is another fantastic spot for a workout. Before you plunge in for a swim, why not do a set of push-ups, jumping jacks, sit-ups, and if there’s grass nearby, even burpees? Not only will you enjoy the bonus of a quick cool-down from the heat, but you’ll also keep your muscles ready for your fall sports season. Trust me, your body will thank you when your season rolls around in September.
Sprinkler Workout
Even in the yard, you can have fun by doing whatever you do outside, but in your bathing suit with the sprinkler on – it feels SO much better when you are wet with water instead of just sweat. You will need to rinse off if you do play in the grass that way, so that you don’t get mud all over your house.
Even in your own backyard, you can have fun with a sprinkler workout. Just throw on your bathing suit, switch on the sprinkler, and go about your usual outdoor activities—it’s SO much better when you’re being sprayed with water instead of sweating! Just remember to rinse off, especially if you’ve been playing in the grass. You don’t want to track mud all over the house!
So, there you have it! I hope you’ll give some of these activities a shot. And don’t forget—anytime you’re outside, remember to apply sunblock regularly. Sunburns are one souvenir from the sun you certainly don’t want to bring indoors.
