Fitness Clubs

Welcome! A Fitness Club is a regular group exercise opportunity for athletes to enhance their health goals and grow social relationships. Everyone, with or without a disability, can participate! Clubs are designed to work with minimal equipment and indoor or outdoor locations.
What Clubs Receive
Fitness Club Guidebook

Guidebook

Your go-to resource includes 50+ pages on how to start a Club, warm-ups, cool-downs, adaptive training, incentives, goal-setting, building accountability, intellectual disability, and more!

Fitness Club coaches receive a hard copy of the Fitness Club Guidebook.
Startup Equipment

Startup Equipment

Every registered Club receives a Standard Set and a Requested Set of equipment based on Club parameters and athlete needs. Club leaders will complete the Equipment Request Form and items include yoga mats, medicine balls, therabands, and jump ropes!

Registering Your Club

All Fitness Clubs must be registered through Special Olympics Virginia to be an accredited program that can access and utilize funded resources, volunteer training, general support, and branding.

Complete the online Registered Training Program (RTP) Form below every off-season (summer).

Club Leadership Paperwork and Certification

All Club leaders must be Class-A eligible and a certified Fitness Coach. Visit the Fitness Leaders page for information about these elements. Additionally, learn about the Fitness Captain program where athletes are trained to help lead fitness in their Clubs and sports teams.
