How many years have you been with Special Olympics, and with which sports?
I have coached the George Mason University Special Olympics Swim Team for the last ten years. I was the Treasurer of the Special Olympics - Northern Virginia Young Professionals Board during the 2020-2021 year and am now the Vice President of the board for the 2021-2022 year.
How has Special Olympics changed your life?
The Special Olympics organization has given me a sense of purpose. Every athlete I have had the honor to coach has taught me so many life lessons, opened my eyes to new perspectives, and they continue to leave a positive impact on my life and countless others. I will always be an advocate and promoter of my athletes, and the entire Special Olympics organization.
Who do you admire the most?
I admire my parents so much. In every phase of my life, they have supported me and my decisions, offered advice and guidance, and been a shoulder I can always lean on. No matter what struggles they faced, they did everything to give me the best childhood possible and are the pillars that help me stand every day as an adult.
