Week Three, Lesson Two

LESSON OVERVIEW

Opening Sports Song (6 min) – Get ready to move! Sing along and do the motions that accompany the song.

“Coach Says” (with a Balance Beam/Rope (4 min) – Adapt the Activity from Day 1 by having them first jump on, then over a Balance Beam or rope.

Rolling and Trapping (5 min) – Sit on the floor in pairs facing one another with your legs outstretched in a straddle position so that your legs are touching in the shape of a diamond. Roll the ball back and forth. Advance to rolling the ball on the floor in a kneeling or standing position.

Foot Trap (4 min) – Start with your foot on top of the ball. Then, take your foot off and kick the ball to a partner who stops the ball with their foot on top of the ball.

Jumping High (5 min) – Introduce the skill of jumping over equipment to the athletes. Start jumping over a floor spot and then jump over a cone.

Frog Hoppin'/Leapin' Lizards (5 min) – Jump on or over floor spots from a standing position. Then run and jump on or over floor spots.

Closing Sports Song (3 min) – You did it! Sing along and do the motions that accompany the song.
