Young Athletes Curriculum

Week Four, Lesson Two

LESSON OVERVIEW

Opening Sports Song (5 min) – Get ready to move! Sing along and do the motions that accompany the song.

Goalie Drill (5 min) – The athlete stands in-between two cones forming a goal. Roll or kick the ball towards the athlete who stops the ball with their hands or feet.

Bean Bag Catch (5 min) – Adapt the Big Ball Activity using a bean bag instead of ball to practice catching skills.

High Ball Catch (6 min) – Kneel facing the athlete who is about 3 feet away. Toss the ball underhand to the athlete who tries to catch the ball in the air.

Bounce Catch (6 min) – Face the athlete and bounce the ball so the athlete can catch the ball after one bounce without moving.

Closing Sports Song (3 min) – You did it! Sing along and do the motions that accompany the song.
