Young Athletes Curriculum

Week Five, Lesson Three

LESSON OVERVIEW

Opening Sports Song (3 min) - Get ready to move! Sing along and do the motions that accompany the song.

Review of Underhand Toss (4 min) - Use a waste basekt, laundry basket or box. Toss the bean bag underhand into the basket.

Two-Hand Throwing (4 min) - Stand sideways with one foot a little bit in front of the other one. Raise your hands over your head. Bend your arms and throw the ball.

Overhand Throw (4 min) - Standing sideways, bring your arm back, bend your elbow, and throw the bean bag with one hand.

Throwing for Distance and Accuracy (4 min) - For distance, place a cone at a distance. The athlete throws the bean bag with one hand and tries to hit the cone. For accuracy, place a floor marker some distance away. The child throws the bean bag with one hand and tries to throw further than the floor marker.

Ball Tapping (4 min) - In pairs, hit the ball on the floor with an open hand to each other and stop the ball with your hands.

Handball (4 min) - Place the ball on the cone or another object and hit it with an open hand or fist.

Closing Sports Song (3 min) - You did it! Sing along and do the motions that accompany the song.
