Young Athletes Curriculum

Week Six, Lesson One

LESSON OVERVIEW

Opening Sports Song (4 min) – Get ready to move! Sing along and do the motions that accompany the song.

Ball Tapping (5 min) – In pairs, hit the ball on the floor with an open hand to each other and stop the ball with your hands.

Handball (5 min) – Place the ball on the cone or another object and hit it with an open hand or fist.

Side Striking (6 min) – Place the ball on a cone or another object. Using a sideways stance, strike the ball with the paddle.

Obstacle Course (6 min) – Set up an obstacle course with floor markers for jumping on, cones to weave around and the balance beam/rope/floor tape to walk on before running to the finish line.

Closing Sports Song (4 min) – You did it! Sing along and do the motions that accompany the song.
