Young Athletes Curriculum

Week Seven, Lesson One

LESSON OVERVIEW

Opening Sports Song (4 min) – Get ready to move! Sing along and do the motions that accompany the song.

Kicking (5 min) – In pairs, kick the ball to each other.

Penalty Kick Prep (6 min) – Arrange two cones to make a goal. Place the ball on the ground several feet from the goal. The athlete kicks the ball through the goal.

Kicking for Distance (5 min) – Place a cone on the floor. The athlete kicks the ball and tries to hit the cone placed at various distances away.

Kicking for Accuracy (6 min) – Arrange two cones to form a goal. The athlete kicks the ball from various distances through the goal.

Closing Sports Song (4 min) – You did it! Sing along and do the motions that accompany the song.
