Young Athletes Curriculum

Week Seven, Lesson Three

LESSON OVERVIEW

Opening Sports Song (4 min) – Get ready to move! Sing along and do the motions that accompany the song.

Kicking for Distance (5 min) – Place a cone on the floor. The athlete kicks the ball and tries to hit the cone placed at various distances away.

Kicking for Accuracy (5 min) – Arrange two cones to form a goal. The athlete kicks the ball from various distances through the goal.

Kickball (5 min) – Stand a short distance away and roll the ball to the athlete. The athlete kicks the ball back to you.

Give and Go (4 min) - Kick the ball toward the athlete and encourage him/her to kick the moving ball through the cones to score a goal.

Bridges and Tunnels (4 min) - Go over the bridge and under the tunnel. Use a cone for the child to step over if you do not want to lay on the floor and lean against a wall or stretch our your arm to make a tunnel for the child to go under.

Closing Sports Song (3 min) – You did it! Sing along and do the motions that accompany the song.
