Young Athletes Curriculum

Week Eight, Lesson Two

LESSON OVERVIEW

Opening Sports Song (3 min) – Get ready to move! Sing along and do the motions that accompany the song.

Balance Beam (4 min) – Place a piece of tape or the rope on the floor. Walk along the balance beam nice and straight!

High Ball Catch (4 min) – Kneel facing the athlete who is about 3 feet away. Toss the ball underhand to the athlete who tries to catch the ball in the air.

Overhand Throwing (5 min) – Standing sideways, bring your arm back, bend your elbow, and throw the bean bag with one hand.

Handball (5 min) – Place the ball on the cone or another object and hit it with an open hand or fist.

Beginning Hockey (6 min) - Place the ball on the ground. Standing in a sideways stance, use the paddle to hit the ball.

Closing Sports Song (3 min) – You did it! Sing along and do the motions that accompany the song.
