Special Olympics Roller-Skating

Know Your Facts

  • There will be 24 athletes competing in rollerskating
  • There are 17 coaches

We have 7 competition: Athletes can compete in 3 of the following speed races: 30 meter straight line, 30 meter slalom, 50 meter slalom, 100 meter race the track, 300 meter race the track, 500 meter race the track or a 1000 race the track.

Clerk/Staging

Check each athlete in and place them in the correct order of competition. Ensure that the escorts have removed credentials and any other items, and make sure the athlete is ready to compete with appropriate attire.

Escorts

Escort athlete to staging area, remove credentials and hold any items they may have while competing, then return their items and escort them back to their team or waiting space.

Lap Counter

Count the lead athletes laps and display current lap to athlete as the pass the start/finish line. Ring the bell on final lap of each race.

Recorder

Records scores of all races and mark official finish place.

Runners

Take official time to the scorers table and take official place results to the awards table.

Timers

Responsible for timing assigned competitor from the flash or the sound of the start command to when the competitor skates across the finish line. Report scores to head official.

Track Monitors

Assist head referee in monitoring the track on the rink floor.
