Check out the different volunteer roles we offer:
Lane Monitors
Lane monitors will orchestrate game play by keeping competition running at a steady pace and making sure bowlers are bowling in the correct order. You will also record the scores on the paper score cards after each game, assist with ball retrieval, report lane issues and scoring corrections to the gameplay volunteers, assist with ramps for ramp-assisted bowlers and cheer on athletes. You will also be asked to ensure athletes stay in the settee and no coaches/parents/guardians/visitors enter that area. Then, at the end of all 3 games, collect them and bring them to the registration table.
Gameplay Assistants
Gameplay volunteers will work closely with the bowling competition team. Upon arrival you will assist with the check-in of teams and participants. Then, once competition gets underway you will transition to receive reports of gameplay or lane issues from lane monitors, and work with bowling alley staff to make obvious lane or scoring corrections (e.g., bowling out of order, pins not reset). Ideally, volunteers in this role should have considerable bowling experience.
Awards
Assist with the medal ceremony! While games are wrapping up you will assist the bowling competition team with setting up for awards. Then once it is time to hand out awards you will review results with competition director for accuracy, present medals to athletes, play Olympics music during presentation and announce awards to spectators.
