What are the Special Olympics Virginia Summer Games?

Summer Games is Special Olympics Virginia’s largest state-level championship. This year over 1,200 athletes of all abilities will travel from across the state to go for the gold in 1 of 5 sports: bowling, softball, swimming, tennis, and track & field.

What's happening at Opening Ceremony?

Join us for the outside Opening Ceremony which will be held in Robins Stadium! Please join us in honoring the 2024 Special Olympics Virginia Annual Award winners at the beginning of Opening Ceremony. We have some great entertainment including a Rolling Stones cover band, Sabbatical! At the end of the Ceremony, athletes and guests are welcome to come to the field to enjoy music and dance before they retire to dorms and hotels.

Where should I park?

Parking is offered at the 3 large lots (C66, C70, C61) to the right of and behind the Robin's Center. See the parking map here.

I'm SO thirsty! Is there water available anywhere?

We tell our athletes all the time to HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE! Water coolers will be at every venue, available for all - but we've got other tasty treats to offer as well! Check it all out here.

I am a parent/family member/friend looking to come cheer on an athlete who is competing in Summer Games. How do I know when and where they are competing?

Please visit the “Sports” section. There you will find schedules, locations and details for all 5 sports.

What is the inclement weather policy?

We will send out a text alert and update our website should the inclement weather policy cause events to be canceled. If you would like to receive these texts, sign up here.

Is there medical personnel on-site?

YES - medical personnel will be on-site at:
  • Large medical tent outside of the track at U of R
  • All competition venues during competition
  • All ceremonies and the Celebration Dance

Can I give a donation at the event?

Yes! There will be QR codes around the venue as well as a Tip-Tap quick-donate kiosk.

Is there a lost and found or a place where I can ask general questions?

We've got you covered! Just visit the Operations Center inside of the Robins Center(Hall of Fame Room on the first floor).

I am an Area Coordinator and/or HOD. Where can I find registration and up to date schedule information?

Please visit the “Delegation Hub” section. There you will find registration packets separated by sport and updated schedules as they become available.
